Picking blueberries and huckleberries on Lake Waldo inspired this piece. I decided to paint a momma bear showing her cubs her favorite berry patch in the woods. This painting was also partially inspired by my favorite children’s book growing up, Blueberries for Sal. While painting this, I found out I was pregnant with our first child, a baby girl! I spent a lot of time reflecting on what it means to be a good mother while painting this piece.
